Molto meglio il primo anche se questo è sicuramente un film ben fatto e ben recitato ma per me è del tutto inutile guardarlo perchè ripropone situazioni e ambienti già visti che nella versione originale hanno il loro fascino ma che in questo film risultano solo inutili ripetizioni. In conclusione un film sufficiente ma niente di che.

La canzone emblematica di David Bowie è, insieme alla scenografia e naturalmente agli Stati Uniti, il filo conduttore dell'annunciata trilogia americana di Lars Von Trier. Era presente nei titoli di coda di Dogville ed è presente anche ora (con qualche fotogrammaa fare da sottosfondo cambiato).

Abbandonato il "dogma 95" (in questo caso si hanno dei, seppur invisibili, movimenti di macchina; la mdp a volte è fissa, forse perchè il mitico Dod Mantle oltre a direttore della fotografia è in questo secondo capitolo anche operatore, naturalmente insieme a Von Trier; si hanno finalmente dei controcampi; gli attori sono leggermente truccati; il digitale è usato anche per creare qualche effetto....) il regista danese firma un'opera che, seppur meno ad impatto, ha un ritmo più sostenuto ed un finale più scioccante e ancora più sorprendente del precedente "Dogville": la figura del giocatore d'azzardo è più indovinata che mai, e il rifiuto del libero arbitrio o della capacità di auto-organizzarsi sono cose che fanno riflettere.

In attesa del terzo conclusivo capitolo (che completerà così l'esalogia dell'Occidente, dopo che gli iniziali "Europa", "Epidemic" e "L'elemento del crimine" erano una sorta di trilogia dedicata al Vecchio Continente) , Lars Von Trier si conferma uno dei registi più cinici ma allo stesso tempo coerenti dell'ultimo ventennio.
